Alayna Kolodziechuk

Alayna R. Kolodziechuk is the in house corporate-commercial lawyer at Taylor Oballa Murray Leyland LLP. She provides a broad range of services for our entertainment and media clients from business structuring to drafting and negotiating complex agreements. In addition to having a business law practice, Alayna also has expertise in privacy law and charities law.

Alayna is called to the bar in the provinces of Ontario, Québec, and Nova Scotia.

Active in theatre as a playwright and director, Alayna has had past productions in Toronto, Montréal, Hamilton, and Halifax at theatres such as The Bus Stop Theatre, The Betty Oliphant Theatre at the National Ballet School, and Theatre Aquarius. Most recently she was commissioned by McGill University to do a research-based play on Canada’s Truth and Reconciliation Commission and its role in teacher training and curriculum.

While obtaining her JD from Dalhousie University, she represented the law school at the Sopinka/McKelvey Cup for criminal trial practice. Alayna also has a Combined Honours Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy and History from McMaster University. She has been the recipient of several top scholarships.

Alayna regularly works with community groups to improve access to justice and is actively involved in law reform.

An active member of the Canadian Bar Association, Alayna has a seat on the national executives for Privacy and Access to Information Law, Entertainment, Media and Communications Law, and Charities and Not-for-Profit Law.

She is also a member of the Syndicat Associatif des Travailleurs-euses Autonome du Québec.
